SUMMER 2013 Schedule - Class Schedule

This year Lindsay is excited to have Mollie Davis helping out with the Morning Camps!

Hello! My name is Mollie. I'm currently an undergraduate at Northeastern University, exploring an art major. I am excited to be helping Lindsay this summer and meeting you all! I have taken her figure drawing classes, took art classes in high school and college, and, of course, make art for myself in the meantime. I worked with Marion Abrams at her art barn in Hatfield and I was a teaching assistant for an art class in high school. My hobbies include singing, traveling, and making origami cranes. See you soon!

*Rates include all materials unless otherwise noted.
** All workshops are taught by Lindsay Fogg-Willits and held at the Florence studio unless otherwise noted.

A 8:30am - 12:30pm Morning Camp: Mask-making and Performance (ages 7-11) $150

Come design a mask from your wildest imagination and then bring it to life! We will make creative character masks using papier maché, cardboard, paint, fabric, and found objects. We will then finish the week by bringing the masks to life in a short colorful performance of our own creation. We’ll learn basic sculpture and mask making techniques, playwriting and performance skills and create a living story of our own. Anything goes-- we are all the designers, directors, actors and artists! Bring a snack, lunch and water bottle.

Lea Chiara is an artist and educator from Northampton who specializes in painting, sculpture, mask making and performance. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts from Skidmore College and currently teaches in programs and workshops for children throughout the Pioneer Valley. Session 7: August 19 - 23

B 1:30pm - 4:30pm Dreams in a Box: Exploring Shadowbox-Making (ages 13-17) $140
With instructor Lea Chiara

Inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell, Marcel DuChamp, Louise Nevelson and Mexican milagro box artists, we will explore the amazing world of shadowboxes. These artists believed that their shadowboxes were windows to dreamworlds, and told stories through the objects they collected. We will collect our own odd and fantastic found objects from the natural world and our own lives, and build exciting, tactile visual stories with them. What objects will you use to tell your story? Bring a snack and a water bottle.
